Registration for the 7th edition of the Volkstheaterfestival Meiringen is now open.

Please note the optional 4/4 rule as well as our participation guidelines and the important information for theatre groups. These documents will help you to know all the requirements and procedures in advance.

By registering, the theatre group confirms that, if selected, it is prepared to take part in the festival in Meiringen and to ensure both the necessary travel and the performance on site.

Since the 2025 edition we have introduced the 4/4 rule.

The theatre groups that register tell us whether they would like to (or are able to) give their one-off guest performance in Meiringen during the week (Wednesday/Thursday) or at the weekend (Friday/Saturday). Groups that are willing to perform during the week on Wednesday or Thursday have the chance of being invited directly to the festival without going through the selection procedure, as one of a maximum of four groups.

Within a few weeks of registering they already know the date and time of their guest performance in June and can start planning straight away. The final decision on who is invited to the festival at this early stage is taken by the theatre commission (TK) together with the organising committee.

If you would like to or are only able to perform on Friday or Saturday, you are in the normal selection procedure and your production will be visited and assessed by two members of the theatre commission or reviewed by means of a recording.

In that case you will be informed by the end of April at the latest whether your production is part of the festival or not.
